IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEW AFIP’s WiFi NETWORK
Background
AFIP (Administracion Federal de Ingresos Públicos [Federal Administration of Public Revenue]), with 20,000 employees, is the federal agency of the Government of Argentina in charge of tax collection and compliance with tax laws. In the city of Buenos Aires, AFIP has 3 buildings where 6,500 employees work.
Customer Requirements
AFIP’s requirement was to technologically update its WiFi wireless network, whose original structure had been discontinued by the manufacturer.
This problem used to impact on network maintenance and scalability and these frequent issues prevented the normal operation of its services.
For this reason, AFIP required to replace its old solution in order to guarantee its operational continuity, and thus provide its employees with and stable and also more efficient access to the applications and services of its internal network, as well as to secure and manage external access to contents.
Proposed Solution
Technology Bureau’s proposal has been selected by AFIP to provide a solution that optimizes the areas of local WiFi network coverage within its buildings, allowing the connectivity of its employees through mobile devices to AFIPs computers and communications systems, which include web and multimedia applications, such as videoconferencing, streaming and voice over IP.
Technology Bureau has provided, installed and commissioned Access Points (AP) & Wireless Controllers and has provided training of the whole wireless network system to employees at AFIP datacenter.
The solution has been integrated by Access Point equipment of the AP6000 series and Wireless Controllers of the AC6000 series, together with the eSight management software of our technology partner Huawei, which allowed AFIP to provide better connectivity to its employees, minimize the time of unavailability of its services, and facilitate the path towards future extensions of its WiFi network.
