DIGICEL ABC
Background
Since its launch in Jamaica in 2001, Digicel has expanded rapidly and now encompasses 31 markets in the Caribbean, Central America and Asia Pacific, providing mobile telecommunications, corporate solutions and entertainment to residential subscribers and corporate clients.
Customer requirements:
Due to the high demand for Internet connectivity and value-added services, Digicel needed to cover the islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao with a technology that would allow it to obtain high-speed links and simultaneously have an excellent sustainable cost-benefit ratio.
Proposed solution:
Technology Bureau USA Corp, one of the companies that is part of the Technology Bureau Group, has focused on analyzing customer requirements and has designed an action plan.
The main objective has been to serve the most populated high density parts of the islands, using the currently installed poles and towers, to minimize the initial investment and obtain a faster return on investment (ROI).
For this, a Radio planning was carried out, validating the frequency to be used and the available spectrum.
The technology chosen has been CAMBIUM NETWORKS, developed for 3GHz for point-to-multipoint radio link devices.
The first stage of the project has required a total of 25 access points to serve some 1,100 subscribers. Currently, this network has more than 3,000 subscribers and continues to expand. TB has provided all the necessary equipment for this purpose.
